In response to the Tsunami disaster in Asia, we made a financial contribution to the Red Cross to support their efforts in providing both emergency and long-term care to the affected communities. Our employees contributed generously towards this, and the company matched it with an equal contribution.
In 2006, we began supporting a fund raising campaign for the Cancer Institute in Chennai. The institute is a non-government and non-profit organisation that has been rendering commendable service to cancer patients over the past 50 years. The institute requires funds to improve the facilities for cancer patients to whom it offers its services free of charge. We have received an overwhelming response by way of significant monetary contributions from our employees to support this noble cause.
As an ongoing commitment to using our privileged position in society to serve those less fortunate than us, we have decided to take up a cause every year that allows the entire organization to work together.
We are an equal opportunity employer dedicated to encouraging and supporting equal employment opportunities to all. We do not discriminate applicants or employees on the basis of their sex, religion, caste, color, age, disability or marital status.
We continue to make a positive difference to the society in which we operate by taking a responsible approach to our business and to our social commitments. For, in the words of Whole Foods Market CEO John Mackey, "The art of leadership is to balance different constituencies and try to create value for all."
